New development in the works for student accommodation but developers hesitant

Treasurer Eva Lawler says a 72-room, eight storey development has been approved on Shepherd Street to provide accommodation for university students

She told Katie Woolf the government is working with developers on other accommodation options with 600 students expected to arrive in Darwin in coming weeks but there’s some hesitancy due to the high cost of building supplies and labour shortages.

Ms Lawler says works are also underway to repair some of the massive potholes on Territory roads between Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.
