New mandatory sentences for those guilty of Domestic Violence murders
The NT Government has announced new mandatory sentences will be established for those found guilty of murdering a domestic partner.
Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby told 360 with Katie Woolf perpetrators will face a minimum 25 year non-parole period if they are found guilty of murdering their partner.
The laws will be introduced and be sent to the scrutiny committee, but questions remain about how many people the laws will capture when some offenders are charged with less offences.
