‘No happy day in Katherine’, businesses fed up with crime, staff resigning and locals leaving
Member for Katherine Jo Hersey says a service station worker has quit after being sprayed with a fire extinguisher while youths ransacked the store and stole cigarettes over Easter.
She told Katie Woolf a senior teacher, who was new to the town, was also threatened with a knife at his home and had his car stolen, and now wants to leave immediately.
Ms Hersey says the community feels powerless, with many leaving town due to the lack of consequences for youths.
