No industry-led solutions to alcohol-fueled issues in Katherine and youths allegedly targeted people with disabilities in recent home invasion

Member for Katherine Jo Hersey says she recently met with the local Liquor Accord hoping to address alcohol-fueled issues in the town but there weren’t any industry-led solutions, adding that she would like to see sales capped at one transaction per day.

Ms Hersey told Katie Woolf the residents who were allegedly threatened and robbed by a group of youths armed with edged and blunt weapons on the weekend were occupants of disability housing and are extremely shaken by the ordeal.

Regarding police pay negotiations, Ms Hersey who’s also the Minister for Public Employment, has called on the NT Police Association to put the offer to a member’s vote saying the 4-year-deal includes a pay increase above CPI.
