No need to outsource investigation into death in custody in Alice, let police do their job says Chief

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says there’s no need for NT Police to outsource the investigation into the death in custody of a 24-year-old man in Alice Springs.
The Chief told Katie Woolf she has also tried to contact the man’s grandfather but hasn’t been able to get through.
Ms Finocchiaro couldn’t comment on whether the 24-year-old’s death would impact the NT Coroner handing down her findings on the inquest into the death of Kumanjayi Walker in the coming days.
Asked for an update on the recruitment of a new Police Commissioner, the Chief said she is still waiting for the report from Justice Alan Blow to be complete into senior police recruitment.
