NT Health urged to work with imaging provides to ensure public patients can get timely scans

Opposition spokesperson for health Bill Yan has raised concerns about expectant mothers in Darwin who are having to travel to Katherine for scans saying it creates unnecessary risk.

He told Katie Woolf residents in Alice Springs are also being told they have to go interstate or to Darwin for breast scans and has heard of significant delays with other kinds of imaging.

Mr Yan says NT Health has a duty of care to ensure the private providers it contracts for imaging services are adequately meeting public patients’ needs.
