NT Police Association President Nathan Finn says he’s received legal advice that the NT Government’s emergency declaration and youth curfew in Alice Springs is unlawful.

He told Katie Woolf civil unrest and rioting cannot be relied upon to enact such powers under the Emergency Management Act and police could be breaking the law.

Mr Finn also said a number of youths were taunting police from just outside of the emergency declaration area overnight, describing it as a “cat and mouse game.”
