NT Police threatening to leave the force over woeful 3 per cent pay rise with housing also being axed for Darwin officers, NTPA says

NT Police Association President Nathan Finn says members are frustrated and angry about the NT Government’s 3 per cent pay rise offer, describing it as a slap in the face for officers who put their lives on the line every day.

He told Katie Woolf the union has also been unable to sit at the table with the Chief Minister who is also the Police Minister, adding the relationship is ‘going downhill.’

Mr Finn says 177 members are also unhappy about department accommodation being removed in the consent agreement for Darwin officers, leaving them with a housing allowance of $31,000 which is taxed.

He says hundreds of officers are also threatening to leave the force, with the NTPA seeking pay rise above the national average of 5.4 per cent.
