Nurses’ union calls for Federal funds as deadline looms for closure of maternity services at Darwin Private Hospital

Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation’s NT Secretary Cath Hatcher says nurses working at Darwin Private Hospital have been kept in the dark ahead of the closure of maternity services next month.

She told Katie Woolf Royal Darwin Hospital will need extra staff, infrastructure upgrades and more funding to cope with an extra 300 births by private patients.

Ms Hatcher says the Federal Government provided $6 million to help save maternity services in Hobart and she’s urging the NT Government to ask the Commonwealth for the same.
