Push to give police more powers to curb public drinking, among CLP’s solutions to crime

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro says the CLP will be pushing to give police greater powers to curb public drinking when NT parliament sits this week.

She told Katie Woolf the government has stripped police of all powers aside from simply tipping grog out under the 2km rule and the CLP want to see alcohol seized and fines handed out.

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro claims it will have an immediate impact by targeting public drinking early, preventing more serious crime.
