Re-write of Youth Justice Act underway and it’s due to be complete mid-year says Chief Minister

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro says the government has committed $36 million a year, ongoing, to tackle dv and has strengthened the laws, with more reforms to come during the March sittings of parliament in the wake of another domestic violence homicide.
Asked about how much the NT Government has spent on flights for youth offenders on compassionate bail, the Chief said it remains unclear but has promised she is still looking into it.
The Chief also told Katie Woolf a re-write of the Youth Justice Act is underway and is expected to be complete mid-year, with the government committed to strengthening the laws.
