Spit hoods, mandatory sentencing and bigger jails, the CLP’s plans for law and order

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro says a CLP government would lower the age of criminal responsibility, implement minimum mandatory sentencing for assaults on workers and give greater powers to police.

She told Katie Woolf spithoods would be reintroduced for youths and a bigger jail built, funded by prioritizing spending.

Ms Finocchiaro says the latest police survey highlights that the force is in crisis, with attrition and a lack of support from the government recurring themes.
