Standalone department of homes and $180 million for tackling dv, Labor’s election promises
Minister for Prevention of Domestic Violence Kate Worden says Labour would create a standalone housing department if re-elected in August to help build homes for Territorians faster, which would oversee and manage private, remote and social housing.
She told Katie Woolf $180 million over 5 years would also be spent under Labor to tackle domestic violence, fully funding services, behavioural change programs and the co-responder model involving police.
Ms Worden has also taken aim at the CLP following media reports that Steve Doherty, the campaign manager for Nightcliff candidate Helen Secretary had blamed domestic violence victims for staying in abusive relationships.
