Treasurer Eva Lawler says the Territory budget includes a record $2 billion investment in infrastructure and $30 million for easing pressure on overcrowded prisons.

She told Katie Woolf the government remains firm on reaching its $40 billion economy by 2030 goal through defence and infrastructure investment from the Commonwealth.

Ms Lawler defended $19 million for a new police station in Peppimenarti saying it is needed to address ongoing crime, with cars being stolen and driven back to the community.
