Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro says she’s horrified to learn that a contract pay-out to former Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker came out of the police budget with no additional boost to its bottom line.

She told Katie Woolf the Treasurer dodged questions during estimates about the cost of the damage to Howard Springs, passing it off to the Department to address.

Ms Finocchiaro says the Deputy Chief Minister’s comments that cost of living pressures and overseas travel is causing a decline in tourism shows she is out of touch, with crime the real reason people aren’t coming to the NT.
