Treasurer sheds light on savings measures and unbudgeted projects after inheriting $9 billion debt
Treasurer Bill Yan says the decision to defer three projects including undergrounding power in Darwin suburbs was made after sitting down with the Treasury Department to find saving measures.
He told Katie Woolf unbudgeted projects were also uncovered saying the FIM Motocross World Championship event was not properly funded under Labor, which the CLP is locked in to deliver amid access issues at Hidden Valley.
Mr Yan says work is now underway on the budget for 2025-26, adding that departments need to also tighten spending.
