Trio charged over car thefts and wielding machete but already granted bail
Acting Deputy Commissioner Martin Dole says three youths are facing a string of charges for allegedly stealing multiple cars, threatening someone with a machete and running from police in Darwin.
He told Katie Woolf they have since been granted bail, with an 11 year-old taken home to a responsible adult, with the Acting Deputy Commissioner highlighting that police are working within the legislation parameters.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Dole says the police force is currently under an immense amount of pressure, with the amount of incidents tripling in the last five years resulting in Darwin watch house becoming a ‘mini prison.’
