Truancy officers to crackdown on kids not attending school in Katherine, with Woolworths reducing trading hours to ensure safety

Member for Katherine Jo Hersey says she plans to meet with community organisations to put a stop to kids coming into town on buses and running amok, with truancy officers doing a blitz on youths not attending school.

She told Katie Woolf the local Woolworths has reduced its trading hours from 10pm to 7pm to ensure the safety of the community, saying she will meet with supermarket management next week.

Asked if more alcohol restrictions are needed, Ms Hersey says that is a matter for police if they want to reinstate PALIs or put constables on bottle shops, adding she will also meet with the local Liquor Accord in the coming weeks.
