Union says only one transit safety officer is keen to become a PPSO, with many actually leaving the police force to become safety officers

Community and Public Sector Union Regional Secretary David Villegas says only one transit/housing safety officer is keen on transitioning to a new stream of police called public safety officers, with many actually leaving the police force to become safety officers.

Mr Villegas told Katie Woolf five weeks on from the NT Government’s announcement of the new approach, workers are still in the dark about grandfathering, pay and conditions.

He also said even if members apply for the new PPSO roles there is no guarantee they will meet the criteria to get the job.
