Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson says residents cannot continue to live with the town with the current state of crime.

He told Katie Woolf he is sceptical whether temporary alcohol restrictions will make any difference.

Councillor Paterson says he is fearful the move will put further strain on businesses, resulting in more break-ins.
