A new app is being developed for NT fishing and boating enthusiasts.

The upgraded version of NT Fishing Mate is free and will offer users a plethora of new features and fishing advice.

The upgraded app will provide information on recreational fishing rules, boating safety, tides and weather and protected areas.

The app will also let people share their own information with its reporting feature.

Users can report things like suspicious or illegal fishing fish kills, ghost nets, aquatic pests and problem crocodiles.

Minister for Agribusiness and Fisheries Paul Kirby says the app supports keen fishos.

“The revised app is there to ensure all Territorians and tourists are familiar with the rules around fishing and boating in the NT, providing information of the best fishing times, tidal information, weather updates and safe boating information,” he says.

“This NT Fishing and Boating Mate app is a one-stop online and offline tool providing all the up-to-date information Territory anglers and boaties need for a safe, compliant, enjoyable day on the water.”

A competition will help launch the app, putting users who make the most of the app’s reporting function into the draw to win a yeti cooler.
