A crime scene has been declared in Katherine after a car was engulfed in flames near a unit block overnight (March 30).
Emergency services were called to the blaze at around 10:30 last night, parked just 5 metres away from a building on Mannion Street.
The fire was able to extinguished a short time later, with police indicating the fire could have been deliberately lit.

They also are investigating whether a disturbance at the unit block earlier in the night could be linked.
