A man accused of driving under the influence of a prohibited drug has been arrested in Palmerston.
The Territory Road Policing Division conducted a traffic apprehension on a car to drug and alcohol test the driver on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old driver allegedly returned a positive roadside result for a prohibited drug and was arrested and taken to Palmerston Watch House.
A secondary drug analysis from the man allegedly returned positive results for a prohibited drug.
Following his arrest, NT Police searched the man’s car and allegedly found approximately $108,000 in cash.
Officers from the Territory Road Policing Division and Dog Operations Unit also executed a search warrant on the driver’s hotel room where they found a further $29,600 in cash and a quantity of drugs.
Investigations remain ongoing, and the alleged offender has been charged with possessing a Schedule 1 dangerous drug in a trafficable quantity, supplying a Schedule 1 dangerous drug in a commercial quantity, driving with a prohibited drug in his body, driving a motor vehicle while unlicensed, receiving or possessing tainted property and breach bail.
