Man arrested over alleged Meth possession, Darwin

A 26-year-old man has been arrested allegedly found in possession of 1kg of Methamphetamine.

Australian Federal Police apprehended the man at Darwin Airport on Saturday (November 15), after arriving from Brisbane, where they allegedly found the Methamphetamine in his suitcase.

He’s been taken into custody and charged with Supply and Possession of a commercial quantity of schedule 1 substance.

He’s set to face Darwin Local Court on February 4.

The arrest is part of an ongoing joint-operation between NT Police and the AFP investigating an international drug syndicate.

Detective Acting Superintendent David Richardson says Meth causes major harm to Top End communities.

“The supply and distribution of methamphetamine causes untold harm to our communities and our officers will continue to disrupt those that seek to profit from it at every turn,” he says.
