A man who allegedly drove a ute at his partner in Alice Springs is due to face court today.
The 41-year-old allegedly chased his partner in a Toyota Hilux along a footpath on Gap Road yesterday.
He allegedly got out of the vehicle and assaulted her with a blunt weapon after she moved out of the way.
Police say he then put her in the back of the ute and drove off.
Strike Force Viper found the Hilux on the Tanami Highway this morning and arrested the man.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The 41-year-old has been charged with six offences including aggravated assault, driving an unregistered vehicle and drink driving.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chay McArthur says it was a traumatic ordeal for the victim.
“It is completely unacceptable for this violent behaviour to be occurring within our community.”
“If you or anyone you know is experiencing domestic or family violence please reach out on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.”
