A 39-year-old man has had his charge upgraded to murder after his partner died from stab wounds at Royal Darwin Hospital, last month.
It’s alleged he assaulted the 47-year-old woman, when the pair were driving together through Yarrawonga in Palmerston on September 18.
Police say the man brought the victim into Palmerston Regional Hospital stating she was unwell, before leaving the location.
A medical assessment by staff identified that she had suffered two stab wounds to her chest.
She was transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition, where she passed away on September 28.
The man was originally charged with Acts Intended to Cause Serious Harm but had his charge upgraded to murder, when he appeared in Darwin Local Court yesterday.
He remains remanded in custody to appear next on Monday, November 2.
