More than half a billion dollars is set to be allocated towards Corrections in the NT, as part of the 2025-26 budget.
There is also set to be extra funding held in contingency, to be used when needed.
A further $4.2 million has also been set aside for domestic and family violence programs.
Minister for Corrections Gerard Maley says it’s part of the NT Government’s commitment to community safety and reducing crime.
“We cannot expect to reduce crime without investing in our police, corrections and justice system, which is why we are boosting the bottom line for Corrections,” he says.
The budget will be introduced on May 13.
