A Darwin man has become the third man to face court over the alleged importation of 4 kilos of Ketamine into the country.

Police say it’s the largest seizure of the drug in the NT – the investigation beginning in April 2025 when Border Force chased a lead in Sydney at the airport.

It’s alleged the 22 year old Darwin man oversaw the venture and gave instructions to the other two offenders.

Police caught him last week in Victoria – saying he fled the Top End – charging him on Thursday.

He’s been charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of drugs – the maximum penalty being life imprisonment.

The 22 year old faced court in Darwin yesterday – and will reappear in court at the end of October.

“Criminal networks pose a significant threat to Australia’s economy, our security and our way of life. Organised crime groups have complete disregard for the community’s safety and are only interested in profits,” said AFP Superintendent Greg Davis.

“Ketamine is a dangerous sedative used illicitly as a ‘date rape’ drug. Its dissociative effects block sensory brain signals and can cause memory loss, feelings of being detached from one’s body and the inability to perceive dangers,” the superintendent said.
