Hollywood power couple, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, have been living separate lives since 2016 – a revelation that was recently made by Pinkett Smith in an interview with NBC.

Despite the seven-year separation, Jada, 52, insists that divorce is not on the cards for the duo, citing a promise she made to herself and to Will, 55. This intriguing revelation comes just ahead of the release of Pinkett Smith’s memoir, “Worthy.”

Jada Pinkett Smith also revealed that amid these swirling divorce rumours with Will Smith, comedian Chris Rock once asked her out. Putting an end to years of speculation surrounding their marriage, Pinkett Smith candidly shared in a recent interview with People magazine that Rock made his romantic advance upon learning about the ongoing rumours.

She recounted the conversation, saying, “Basically, he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No, Chris, those are just rumours.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologised, and that was that.”

In the same interview, Jada confirmed that neither she nor Will have ever cheated or had an open relationship, despite reports suggesting otherwise. She emphasised the importance of communication and transparency in their marriage, stating, “We eliminated the chance of betrayal. It’s like, ‘Let’s talk about it. Let’s work through it together. Let’s be in partnership. Let’s not keep each other in the dark.'”

While Pinkett Smith did not specify when the conversation with Rock took place, this incident adds an interesting layer to last year’s Oscars scandal. At the time, Will Smith stormed the stage and slapped Rock after he made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

The actress initially thought it was a skit but soon realised the truth. She shared her perspective, saying, “From where I was sitting, I couldn’t tell. It didn’t look like Will hit Chris because, number one, I’d seen Will in the boxing ring with pro fighters — Will’s a heavy-hitter.

So when Chris moved, it looked like he ducked or he missed the shot. And when he continued to stand, and then when he continued to walk down to the end of the stage, I was like, ‘There’s no way. There’s no way that Will hit him.'”

Pinkett Smith, despite being the butt of jokes by Rock, takes it in her stride saying that it “comes with the territory” of being in the spotlight, and that she doesn’t judge how others express their art. Despite the occasional hurt feelings, she seems to be standing strong, putting her focus on her memoir “Worthy” that’s set to hit the shelves next week.
