Wands at the ready!

The cast for the controversial new Harry Potter TV series at HBO has been growing slightly week by week, garnering much discussion and controversy with some of the decisions it’s made so far. Our cast mates are Dominc McLaughlin as the boy who lived Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as the brightest witch of her age Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as the reliable best friend Ronald Weasley. All three of the future Hogwarts students are newcomers to the film industry, these three young talents will be leading the series alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Executive Producer Francesca Gardiner and Director Mark Mylod said in a joint statement this morning:

“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,”

The newest series at HBO is expect to begin filming in the coming months at the Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, the same location the original films were shot. But don’t expect to see anything anytime soon, as the show isn’t scheduled to hit the screens until 2027. But if all goes to plan with HBO you’ll be expecting at least 7-seasons of the new Harry Potter show, as they plan to devote an entire season to each book to further flesh out the stories the movies had to trim for time.

What do you think of the cast so far? Happy with our new picks for these iconic roles?
