Metallica has sent the music world into a whirlwind with their announcement of a new album and a world tour!

The band’s 11th studio album titled ‘72 Seasons‘ is set to be released on April 14th 2023, which comes after almost 7 years since their 2016 album ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’.

The album announcement featured the release of a new single “Lux Aeterna,” which has been labelled as 90’s Metallica meets modern Metallica

The album got its name, ‘72 seasons‘ from the number of seasons that we live through by the time we hit adulthood. James Hetfield explained the album’s concept in a statement published by the Rolling Stone, “72 seasons — the first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves,” he said. “The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is a reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
