Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially released the exciting new trailer for “Zootopia 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 hit movie “Zootopia.” The new film features an original song, “Zoo,” performed by Shakira, who reprises her role as Gazelle, Zootopia’s beloved pop star.
The trailer introduces fresh characters and reveals a hidden reptile population within Zootopia. Officers Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) are back and meet a new character, Gary De’Snake, a mysterious pit viper voiced by Academy Award® winner Ke Huy Quan. Directed by Oscar®-winning team Jared Bush and Byron Howard and produced by Yvett Merino, “Zootopia 2” promises to deliver a thrilling new chapter in the franchise.
The song “Zoo,” written by Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin, and Shakira, and produced by Blake Slatkin, Alex Castillo (A.C.), Shakira, and Ed Sheeran, is set to release on Friday, October 10. The full “Zootopia 2” soundtrack, with an original score by Academy Award® winner Michael Giacchino, will be available on Friday, November 21. The movie itself hits theaters on Thursday, November 27.
Fans will also love the fun cameos from Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin, who appear as sheep characters named Ed Shearin and Baalake Lambkin. “Zoo” is expected to captivate audiences as much as the original hit song “Try Everything,” which has amassed over 2.7 billion streams worldwide since 2016.
The “Zootopia 2” voice cast is packed with star power. New additions include Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”), David Strathairn (“Good Night, and Good Luck”), Macaulay Culkin (“American Horror Story”), and Brenda Song (“The Last Showgirl”) as the Lynxleys, a prominent Zootopian family. Comedian Fortune Feimster (“Crushing It”) joins as Nibbles Maplestick, a quirky beaver podcaster investigating reptile mysteries. Returning favorites include Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Patrick Warburton as Mayor Brian Winddancer, Nate Torrence as Clawhauser, and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby, a lovable quokka therapy animal.
