One of Australia’s most iconic performance cars, the Ford Mustang, has been caught up in a safety recall involving models from 2022 to 2025.

The recall was flagged in a domestic article citing safety risks due to a manufacturing defect.

But this isn’t the only Mustang-related recall making headlines, models in the U.S. and globally are also facing issues with lighting systems, software, and electrified cousins (the Mach‑E).

What the Australian recall covers: rear‑view camera software fault

In Australia, the recall falls under REC‑006358, issued for a group of Ford vehicles (Mach E, F‑150, Ranger, Everest, Mustang, Transit, etc.) built between 2022 and 2024.

The key problem: a software bug in the system that governs the rear‑view camera, which may prevent the camera from displaying the rear view correctly when reversing.

What that means in practice: when drivers shift into reverse, the camera may not come on. Inadequate rearward visibility can obviously carry serious risks, especially if pedestrians or obstacles are behind the car.

Affected owners will be contacted by Ford, and the fix will be done free of charge at Ford dealers.
