I can’t emphasise how excited I was when I saw this news, please I NEEEEEED IT!

Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Well a neuroscientist seems to think that they have discovered a sure fire way to help fall asleep if you’re struggling to nod off. The neuroscientist in question is podcaster Andrew Huberman. Whilst speaking to Bill Maher he shared a trick to help him sleep that he absolutely swears by that has helped him go to sleep within 5-minutes. Andrew said:

“Now we are finally coming to terms with the fact that the mind and body are connected, duh. It’s been known about for thousands of years… I’ve published clinical trials on some of these things, like the respiration physiology, its role in stress and destress… In fact, if you wake up in the middle of the night and you are having trouble going back to sleep, try just doing some long extended exhales… And get this, this sounds really weird but it has a basis in physiology… Keep your eyes closed and just move your eyes from side to side behind your eyelids, back and fourth. Do some long exhales… I can’t promise but I am willing to wager one pinky that within five minutes or so, you’ll be back to sleep.”

Andrew did have to preface this take by informing listeners that it doesn’t work 100% of the time, but urged restless sleepers to give it a try. Many people in the comments of their chat shared their experience with the trick. Many of which declared that it worked for them to some degree. One commenter even declaring that whilst it wasn’t an immediate “fall asleep” tactic it did seriously help relax their mind and body to help guide them to rest.
