115,000 barra will be released into Top End waterways this year as part of the barramundi stocking program.
The NT government’s $5 million RecFishing Futures program hopes to restock Manton Dam and several of the lakes around Palmerston, providing safe land-based fishing opportunities for anglers of all ages.

The released barra are tagged and monitored by NT Fisheries to understand recapture rates and the success of the stocking program — fishers are encouraged to report their catches.
It comes as the Hooked-on Palmerston fishing competition kicked off over the weekend.
$4,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs throughout the Dry Season.
