A traffickable quantity of illegal drugs has been seized following a routine traffic stop in Katherine.
Members of the Dog Operations Unit stopped a vehicle in the Katherine township on Tuesday, where Drug Detection Dog Rafa indicated the presence of drugs.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a traffickable quantity of cannabis, a less than traffickable quantity of methamphetamine, a used methamphetamine pipe and 200 unused deal bags.
A 42-year-old Borroloola man has been issued a Notice to Appear in Local Court, charged with driving while unlicensed, possessing a traffickable quantity of a Schedule 2 dangerous drug, possessing a less than traffickable quantity of a Schedule 1 dangerous drug, and possessing a thing used to administer a dangerous drug.
Acting Superintendent Meacham King praised Drug Detection Dog Rafa for the successful detection.
“The look on Drug Detection Dog Rafa’s face says it all… don’t do drugs. Don’t deal drugs. And if you do, don’t expect to get past him,” he said.
“If you’re carrying drugs, there’s a good chance Rafa will find them.”
