At about 12:15am this morning Northern Territory Police received a report of an unlawful entry
taking place at a commercial property in Larrakeyah.
An adult male offender has used a hammer to smash his way into the property through the rear door.
The offender was observed stealing bottles of alcohol when he was confronted by an employee.
A physical struggle has ensued with the offender attempting to strike the employee with a hammer
before punching him a number of times to the face.
The offender has run from the premises with a bottle of alcohol before leaving the location in a
vehicle.
Police attended the location quickly and based on information from the victim were able to locate
the offender driving away in his vehicle.
He was arrested and taken to the Palmerston Watch House.
The 25-year-old male remains in custody for Aggravated Unlawful Entry and Stealing with Violence
offences.
The victim was conveyed by Saint John’s Ambulance to the Royal Darwin Hospital with facial injuries.
He will be discharged later today.
