Darwin Council has teamed up with the NT Government hoping to curb the damage to Frangipanis in the area due to an infestation of Papaya mealybug.

The insect spreads rapidly and can cause stunted and deformed new growth, as well as leaf yellowing and early fruit drop.

A new trial will see mealybug ladybird released in the region, a natural predator to the Papaya mealybug.
