Three men have been charged after allegedly attacking a couple who were camping on Groote Eylandt.
The trio aged 18, 18 and 20 are accused of causing significant damage to the couple’s vehicle before assaulting them with weapons in their tent at 10.15pm on Saturday.
The man and woman received blunt force injuries and were taken to the local health clinic for treatment.
Police say the alleged offenders are known to the victims.
The trio were arrested on Sunday and have since been charged with 14 offences each including deprivation of liberty, aggravated assault and making threats to kill.
They have been remanded in custody to face Darwin Local Court tomorrow.
