A teenager accused of committing a series of serious property offences across Darwin and Palmerston has been arrested.
The 17-year-old boy has allegedly been involved in multiple break ins throughout Palmerston, along with actively committing offences in Darwin over the past two weeks, and is a known high-risk target to NT Police.
The boy is accused of breaking into a home in Moulden by smashing through the front door, before stealing the occupant’s car keys and fleeing in the car.
NT Police deployed tyre spikes, successfully stopping the car, where the teenager allegedly attempted to flee on foot before being arrested by members of Strike Force Trident and the Dog Operations Unit.
The teenager has been charged with three counts of aggravated burglary in a dwelling., three counts of theft, attempted burglary, driving a motor vehicle without consent, driving in a dangerous manner during a pursuit, driving with a medium range blood alcohol concentration, and driving with a drug in blood.
Investigations are continuing, with detectives examining whether the teenager has been allegedly involved in further offending.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Burns said the arrest reflected Strike Force Trident’s commitment to targeting repeat offenders.
“Strike Force Trident will continue to proactively target repeat offenders and hold those responsible for property crime to account.”
